Children’s joy and happiness are a big part of their learning. At Ascensions Child Development Program, we encourage them to have fun as a part of their education, with child-led activities which are adapted to their abilities and interests.

Guided by The Creative Curriculum's ethos, which promotes hands-on exploration and discovery, our teachers equip children with the necessary resources to craft meaningful and captivating learning experiences, which are tailored to their individual interests and developmental milestones.

Our educational approach places a strong emphasis on fostering positive connections among teachers, children, and parents and caregivers, with a specific focus on nurturing independent thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving skills in children.

Through immersive, academically driven lesson plans that prioritize a holistic approach, our teachers concentrate on the overall development of each child, encompassing their mind, body, spirit, and heart.

The Five Domains of Learning

Our curriculum is aligned with Oregon's five preschool learning domains, the state's framework for early childhood developmental competencies:

This domain addresses how children engage with learning itself, curiosity, initiative, sustained attention, persistence, flexible thinking, creativity, and problem-solving.

Children build a sense of identity and confidence while developing emotional regulation, relationship skills, cooperation, empathy, and conflict-resolution strategies.

This domain covers listening comprehension, expressive speech, vocabulary acquisition, conversational skills, and the ability to communicate needs and ideas, including support for a child's home language.

Children develop print awareness, phonological and rhyming awareness, story comprehension, early writing skills, and foundational letter knowledge, alongside a genuine enjoyment of books.

This domain builds counting and number sense, understanding of quantity, comparison, pattern recognition, geometry, measurement, sorting, and early mathematical problem-solving.

When children play, they build language and social competencies, develop emotional self-regulation, and strengthen independent problem-solving skills. Through play, children construct understanding of themselves, others, their community, and the wider world.
