Why Clear Lake
Ascensions Clear Lake is located inside the former Clear Lake Elementary School, giving our Explorers access to spaces rarely available in a traditional child care center.

Our gym gives Explorers room for movement, active games, sports and gross motor development throughout the year.

Expansive outdoor spaces create more opportunities for nature-based learning, physical activity and imaginative play.

Flexible indoor spaces allow us to host family gatherings, parent classes, community visitors and seasonal celebrations.

Drop-off and pickup are simpler for Families balancing work, education and daily responsibilities.

Full Time Vs Part Time Care
Choosing the right early childhood program is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent.
We have created this useful guide to help provide you all the info you need on making this decision.

Our Approach: Play-Based Learning With A Purpose
Children do their most meaningful learning when they can explore, experiment and participate.
Our play-based approach is informed by the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework and Oregon’s Early Learning and Kindergarten Guidelines. The Crew uses these frameworks to create experiences suited to each Explorer’s developmental stage, interests and individual needs.
Explorers also take part in age-appropriate STEAM experiences that introduce science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics through building, investigation, creativity and hands-on problem-solving.

We also incorporate Oregon State University’s Red Light, Purple Light self-regulation program. Through playful music and movement activities, Explorers practice listening, remembering instructions, managing impulses, adapting to changing directions and participating confidently in a group.
The result is learning that feels joyful while helping children develop the confidence and skills they need for what comes next.
Every Stage of the Journey, Supported
Classroom placement is guided by age, development and each Explorer’s individual needs.

Practical Support for Every Day

We are open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, helping Families manage varied work, study and commuting schedules.

Snacks are included as part of the daily program. Families should speak with the Crew about allergies, dietary restrictions or individual feeding needs.

Our Navigators program helps Explorers become more familiar with the routines, relationships and skills they will experience in kindergarten.

Families receive regular updates about meals, rest times, activities and important moments, helping them stay connected to their Explorer’s day.

Support Beyond the Classroom
At Ascensions, parents and caregivers are known as Families because we believe child care works best when everyone works together.
Our support may include:
LaunchPad
Our onboarding and Parent Portal gives enrolled Families access to important information, resources and center communications in one place.
Parent Resources and Classes
Our growing family education program is designed to provide practical support around child development, routines, behavior, school transitions and other common early childhood questions.
Co-Pilots
Our parent advisory group gives Families a meaningful way to share ideas, provide feedback and contribute to the future of Ascensions.
Family and Community Events
Events throughout the year give Families opportunities to meet, celebrate and build relationships beyond daily drop-off and pickup.
Bringing the World to Our Explorers
Learning becomes more memorable when children can meet the people, animals and organizations they are learning about.
Throughout the year, Clear Lake may welcome visitors such as:

Culture Days, holiday activities and seasonal celebrations also help Explorers learn about the traditions and experiences represented within our community.
Inclusive Care: Every Explorer Deserves To Be Understood
Our program is designed to welcome children with a wide range of strengths, communication styles and developmental needs.
The Ascensions Crew works closely with Families and collaborates with speech therapists, occupational therapists and other allied health professionals when appropriate.
This partnership helps us provide more thoughtful, informed support while keeping each Explorer included in the everyday life of the classroom.
